Real Time filmfest hosting Iranian short ‘Sonia’

The 2021 edition of the Real Time International Film Festival (RTF) in Nigeria has been screening Iranian short flick ‘Sonia’.

Directed by Javad Safavi and produced by Arezou Zargar, the flick narrates the story of a young journalist named Mina, who is jobless and has to work for a tabloid with yellow journalism style for making a living.

She has to write a report on a subject that is against her beliefs.

‘Sonia’ has so far gone on screen at some global events, including the Frenzy Short Film Festival in the US.

The RTF aims “to build a truly International, all-inclusive and remotely accessible Film Festival”. It champions an artistic baseline where equity and openness are enhanced among creative artists, filmmakers and film enthusiasts.

The 2021 edition of the event has been slated for July 20-25.
